Summer Shows are Back and Sweatier than Ever: Post Sex Nachos Live in Detroit

Show Review ★ Emily Galeas ★ @emilygaleasmusic★ 2 Minutes

When you think about live music in the summertime, your brain goes to amphitheaters, sun blazing down, and dancing your heart out despite the heat. However, that was not the story at Lager House on July 17th.

Some are relieved to show up to a concert on a 90 degree summer evening and realize it's inside an air-conditioned bar. However, fans were quick to realize that the Lager House did not have working A/C in their live venue, proving to be what some have deemed “the sweatiest show ever”.

Openers (Detroit locals) ‘Mild Pulp’ and ‘Moravian’, came to the stage with high-energy sets and performances that blew the audience away, distracting us from the ever-increasing heat! ‘Mild Pulp’s’ cover of ‘Kings of Leon’s’ Sex On Fire, amped up the crowd perfectly for the main event. Moravians electrifying set took the stage with as much power as always, delivering a strong performance of their newest singles Ashes and Sirens while also featuring a few of their hits from the beginning of their career.

The main event, however, was Nashville local band ‘Post Sex Nachos’, who, despite the circumstances, delivered a fantastic rock performance. The Nashville rock scene is officially infiltrating Detroit, a perfect storm. The five-piece group absolutely rocked the house, their audience energy was some of the best I’ve seen at a Lager House show.

When following openers like ‘Mild Pulp’ and ‘Moravian’, it's important to keep the audience's energy high. Needless to say, the transition was seamless. ‘Post Sex Nachos’ made their audience forget about the suffocating temperature with a plethora of hits, including (but not limited to) a classic cover of Eye of the Tiger by ‘Survivor’. Throughout all acts on stage, this show had by far the most dancing, singing along, and overall enjoyment I’ve seen at a small local show in a long time. This show felt much more like a club show, where everyone is prepared to come in and dance the night away, which only fed the performers, adding to the overall atmosphere of the show.

If you’re an Alternative Rock listener, looking to expand your listening territory, Nashville based ‘Post Sex Nachos’ is currently touring in the United States, and has plenty of tracks to stream. Take a glance at their social media, because they’re probably coming to a city near you!
