Nordista Freeze Breaks Records at the Detroit Public Library

Show Review ★ Emily Galeas ★ @emilygaleasmusic★ 3 Minutes

The music industry is no stranger to a fast-paced tour. However, Nashville based artist Nordista Freeze is (quite literally) out-pacing everyone with his newest endeavor: the ‘World Record Tour’, breaking the record with 50 shows across all 50 states in 30 days.

Waking up in one state, and ending the day in another, Freeze is sometimes playing multiple shows per day. Traveling in a rental car, with an acoustic guitar, a PA system, and his intimate tour crew, what would come from this tour was pretty unpredictable. Lets just say, Freeze, accompanied by his openers ‘Levona’, brought the most ‘Rock & Roll’ the Detroit Public Library has ever witnessed.

What started off advertised as a ‘library hang-out’ quickly blossomed into an intimate show of artists, photographers, friends, and fellow musicians. The crowd was small, but the might was mighty!

The Michigan based band Levona opened up the show with an indie-rock set, booming through the Explorer Room underneath the Detroit Public Library around 12PM. Freeze chatted around between songs during the opening set before getting up on stage to play his acoustic set.

Freeze played a few of his hits, including a few tracks off of his new album On the Banks of Disappearing. Most notably, Listen To You. Freeze also carried on with the heartfelt tradition that he has maintained throughout the tour, ending his solo set with The Beatles With A Little Help From My Friends. During which he called Levona back up to the stage, as well as photographers and audience members to sing along.

This medley of musicians, photographers, audience members, and Freeze allows for the intimate crew attending each show to come together as if they are all contributing to the cause. Freeze has been very open about how this tour would not be possible without the help from his friends all around the country assisting with sponsors, couches to sleep on, venue booking, and content creation.

Freeze then kept Levona on stage for a brief rock set, where they played tracks like ‘I’m A Believer’ by Smash Mouth and a few other tracks. This set got the crowd amped up and dancing to close out the show, where Freeze spoke with fans about his experience on the tour so far.

When I asked Freeze how he was really feeling after being 31 states into this tour, he said that he is doing shockingly well. He spoke about being apprehensive about the tour in the beginning because of how isolating touring can be, and how many small things could affect such a fast-paced tour where a tight schedule needs to be maintained. However, overall, Freeze and his crew are in good health, and spirits are high!

As of publishing, Freeze’s record-breaking tour has officially concluded though if you are looking to support him, he is selling a variety of merchandise promoting the tour, made by small artists, and some high-quality clothing as well! You can also purchase merch combos for $50 and $100.
