Pierce the Veil Brings the I Can’t Hear You Tour to OKC
Show Review★ Jade Mcdonald★ @jconcertmedia★ 2 Minutes
I drove 3 hours for the opening night of Pierce the Veil’s second leg of their I CAN’T HEAR YOU tour recently and the energy in the venue was exciting: this was a sold out show, after all. The fans all came prepared and dressed for the occasion - fanpages were making “dress codes” for each tour date even. The ones running these pages were on barricade after waiting over 24 hours in a queue for the pit. I had talked to them about their signs and outfits.
The first opener Like Roses began around 6, and they opened with their song Splenetic. They are a band from California, and this was their first time playing alongside Pierce the Veil! They then played another song which was named Stuck. They got the crowd super hype and started a small mosh even through the heat. As their set came to a close they played Easy which was such a perfect end to their 20 minute set.

At 6:40 pm the next opener came on stage. The second female fronted band of the night: Ecca Vandal all the way from Australia! It was her first time playing in Oklahoma City so she was going all out hyping the crowd. She opened with her song Eyes and the crowd went crazy. She kept up the great energy until the end even as the sun set. Her set lasted a mere 30 minutes but she kept everyone excited for more. Ecca Vandal ended with their song SORRY CRASH! and the crowd was eager for the next band as it was almost time for the main act.

Health was the last opener to play and the crowd was definitely more full as it was 7:30 pm. Their set was fully dark with LED strobe lights, which was very aesthetically pleasing to watch. They opened with their song IDENTITY and immediately the crowd was drawn in. Everyone was jumping around and seemed to have all become super fans that second. They did a couple cover songs such as Deftones’ Be Quiet and Drive. As their set came to an end, the crowd was impatiently waiting for Pierce the Veil to come out. They ended with their song DSM-V and then the night was almost to its peak.

As it hit 8:45 the main show had begun, Pierce the Veil opened with Death of an Executioner after a huge curtain with their different eras’ symbols had fallen down. The fans were screaming, crying, and jumping up and down. The set was emotional, they played a throwback song She Makes Dirty Words Sound Pretty after their iconic Yeah Boy, Doll Face which a lot of fans were hoping they would play. They also had an acoustic song, Wonderless, which they all sat in the center of the stage for. They all exited the stage and came back on with a lot of smoke and fog for the next song Hell Above but then their newest hit which became popular from TikTok, So Far So Fake was played. The fans all screamed and all whipped their phones out to record their newest favorite song.

Once the song was over, frontman Vic Fuentes dedicated his next song to his wife (who was there watching from the side stage) and his bandmates. The song was Emergency Contact which was mainly written for his family and friends and how much they mean to him. Now, the show was coming to an end but the fans chanted for an encore!
The band came back out for their last 3 songs of the night which were the most popular of their discography: Disasterology, Hold On Till May, and King for a Day. The crowd was insane and they even had a fan project that happened during HOTM where the crowd was holding up heart shaped red paper and turned on their flashlights. Overall, the set was a whole 1 hour and 35 minutes.
